2023 Farm Bill Petition

Image
Congress needs to bring together people and industries committed to rebuilding our soil. Harmful soil is causing disruptions with ecosystem diversity and farmers livelihoods. Our future needs to be changed in regard to becoming more conscious of our land and preserving it to the best it can possibly be preserved. The 2023 farm bill will have a huge impact on these preservation efforts, along with a whole host of other benefits. The 2018 farm bill failed to do this along with the 2008 farm bill , which I found to be one of the most atrocious bills in the history of America. A bill that blatantly limits the organic industry, I think illegally. At least the 2018 farm bill was a lot better, however, it still lacked the funding that is needed to operate on a level playing field for the farmers and consumers. The 2023 farm bill should be better and hopefully show the government of the people more than big government.  “When they call the roll in the Senate,

Changes in Organic Grocery

Changes in Organic Grocery The changes in organic grocery include increased sales, continued growth, expansion of farmland, new products, and better government funding. Unfortunately, the biggest impact is the governments funding because of its powers within the farm industry. They have power to increase or decrease funding to many facets within the farm industry which has a direct correlation to prices for consumers.  Organic food is helping parents provide healthier snack options for their children and is continuing to be a growing trend along with investments by stores in organic products (Siegner). Organic grocery sales rose over 50% from 2008 (20.39 billion) - 2018 (47.86 billion) with steady growth each year (Gundala et al). Definitely a great sign for the industry. Does this mean sales will reach over 80 billion by 2028? In 2021 Organic food sales reached 57.5 billion. The data suggests the same type of increasing growth since 2018. When will this continuous organic food growth

Changes in Organic Farming

Big Changes in Organic Farming Changes in organic farming inside the United States have been huge over the years. Increased organic food sales and increased demand for organic food. Supply from native organic farms were unable to meet the demands even though organic croplands have shown a significant increase over recent years. The 2008 farm act really handcuffed the organic farm industry for the next decade, by funding the bioengineering and non-organic farm industries in the hundreds of millions while reducing the organic farm industry funding. How Did Organic Farming Begin The concept of organic farming came from India when Sir Albert Howard learned their farming methods and championed for those concepts in the early 1900's, along with F.H. King and Rudolf Steinerto, to be used in the west for an improved farming system (Adamchak). Changes in Organic Farming Over the Years Organic food sales increased an estimated 30 billion dollars from 2010 - 2020, with certified organic cropl

Properly Managed Organic Farms Changes the World

Organic Farming Properly Managed  Image by lumix2004 by Pixabay Organic farms are farms that are managed without the use of pesticides, fertilizers and not grown in the wild (Barker). Even though food might be labeled organic, or came from an organic farm, it might not be managed properly failing government inspections and not qualifying for government incentives.  Vilicus Farms is an organic farm in Montana own by the Crabtrees. A farm that stands out due to its lack of erosion (which was tough to achieve in the first place due to the area they are in), no use of herbicides, very little tilling, excellent nutrient management, pollinators, carbon sequestration, and clean water (Carlisle 189-190). Its safe to say the food that comes from this farm is definitely clean and at higher standards than many of the farms throughout the United States. Farms like this distribute genuine organic food to markets throughout the country and help people eat cleanly. Chemical Farming Is Harmful for t
